Tri-Border Sailing Club

Reader Contribution…

Looking for some inexpensive family fun this summer? Want to spend time together learning a new skill? The Tri-Border Sailing Club is looking for new membership for the 2009 sailing season! We have a wide selection of boats designed for a single person all the way to family boats which can carry up to 5 adults. During the sailing season, our boats are kept at our sailing location in Roermond, Netherlands which is a short drive from the GK/JFC area. This is a safe and sheltered sailing lake with minimal powerboat activity.

If you have previous sailing experience, all that is needed is a checkout on the boats by a club official. If you have never sailed before or are not sure if sailing is for you, come join us for a day on the water. Training is available.

Our membership costs are very reasonable (around €100) you will get unlimited usage of the sailboats for the summer season! Parking is free at the harbor and the Outlet Shopping in Roermond is 5 minutes away (go sail while the spouse goes shopping!)

Please contact John Duffy @ 02451-633589 or at nebraskaduffys@hotmail.com for more information.

Cyber Connections +

Ok… so we have some options now with groups. There are a lot of women’s clubs (listed in another post), churches, sports teams, and other ways to be involved here. And, for those of us who use our computer for just about everything, there are several groups out there for us too. Can’t have too much of a good thing, can you?

All of these groups have two things in common:
1) They were started with the idea of bringing people together and providing a support system for people living here temporarily.
2) They can’t survive without your involvement and contribution. If the page looks blank, add what you know. Someone out there is interested and has probably asked that question before.

Village Connections: Website and social connections group that organizes activities in the area for members to participate in. You must sign up to view and participate in the website. http://www.thevillageconnection.org/

GK Connections: A Yahoo group that actively exchanges questions and answers and plans activities together. Sign up for membership.

Facebook Groups:

  • Living In GK Social Network: For the Facebook community, this new group is modeled after this particular blog so that blog readers can connect and comment/share information in an easier format. You must have a Facebook account to join and membership is on a request basis to prevent spamming. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=8751261195
